I have not yet been able to afford the French Laundry Cookbook (it is quite the gigantic tome) but one recipe caught my eye this time around and that was the recipe for potato chips. The first recipe that we did was a tomato tartare and after looking through many recipes, we found one in the French Laundry cookbook. I know that it's something like 10 years after its publication, but it's really a great cookbook. Here's a look at my very first cookbook and from what I've heard it's one of the best books ever made. I started reading The French Laundry Cookbook last weekend and decided to make a loose version of one of the recipes yesterday. The French Laundry Cookbook alone has sold more than half a million copies, even at $50 a pop, and launched a thousand menu imitations. I can't share the recipe in my blog, but I assure you that the cookbook is worth the fifty bucks.
